Saturday night, after the Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State game, I was wishing with all my heart that I was sipping on a warm chocolaty drink of any kind....spiked or not. It was seriously cold! One of my favorite cold weather drinks is a Mexican Hot Chocolate. It's the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Cheers!
3 cups Milk
8 Tbsp Scharffen Berger Sweetened Cocoa Powder
2 Tbsp Agave Nectar (or sugar)
1/8 - 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper (season to taste)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
4 ozs Patron Coffee Liquer (or any type of Tequila)
Warm the milk in a medium size heavy saucepan on medium heat, watching carefully. Add the cocoa powder and the agave or sugar. Heat until the ingredients dissolve, whisking to combine all ingredients. Season with the cayenne pepper and cinnamon. Start with 1/8 teaspoon pepper and season to your taste. Pour the warm milk into 2 large mugs and add 2 oz of tequila. Top with whipped cream; sprinkle cream with cinnamon.
