Super Bowl Party - Part 2

I realize fashion and football don't generally mingle very well. However there are a few of us trying to change that. It's time to say no to the typical boxy tee and embrace a more stylish football experience. Superbowl is the perfect opportunity to rock a fab look. The Superbowl has more glitz and glamour surrounding the day then a normal football game - from the celebs in attendance, to the half-time show, to the hyped up tailgating - Superbowl is a major party and as such we should dress accordingly.

Whether you are actually going to be in Indy this weekend for Superbowl, or like the rest of us, you will be at a house party, it's time to start thinking about your gameday outfit. Which brings us to Part 2 of our Superbowl Party series - What to Wear.

I feel you have two options. First, if you are rooting for the Giants or the Patriots then you will want to rock their team colors and gear. If you have no team allegiance you can still pull together an outfit using the Giant's and Patriot's colors (red and blue). If you aren't feeling those colors you can always go neutral and wear some key accessories. I've put together some items that would be perfect for any Superbowl event. I hope you all have a great Superbowl Sunday!

What NOT To Serve At Your Tailgate

It's scary what people come up with. But I would actually try one, at least to say that I had.

These just look atrocious and not the least bit appetizing. However the actual ingredients will surprise you, they are very clever.

These are mildly intriguing. Again I think I would try one, emphasis on one, obvs.

Tailgate Toys: Skuuzi Glove Koozie

Ha! The Internets are full of wondrous things. Introducing the Skuuzi, it keeps your hand warm and your beverage cold. I hate to admit it, but this glove koozie is actually perfect for me. I typically get cold at our tailgates if the temp is anywhere below 60 and I hate warm beer.

It's handmade from sheep wool (insert crude joke here), you can buy one for $29.99. It only comes in the drab grey color though. Us stylish girls need something more colorful.

Bedazzled Football

These are some of the footballs that I have bedazzled. The first one (top) was a pink sequin football that started the whole process. They are definitely fun to make! I individually glue each rhinestone on to a real football. Please contact me for custom orders.

Tailgate Recipes: Sweet Tea and Arnold Palmer

Best Sweet Tea Recipe

16 cups (1 gallon) cold water
16 individual tea bags or 4 family sized bags. (I like to use Lipton cold brew.)
1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar
Lemon and mint for garnish
*1 cup of  Bacardi rum if you want to spike it.

If you are using cold brew tea bags, you add the bags to the water for 3 minutes and then sweeten to taste. If you are using regular tea bags, bring water to boil over high heat in a large pot. Remove from heat and add tea bags for 6-8 minutes, depending on how strong you like it. Add sugar to your pitcher, once the tea is done steeping pour into pitcher, stir until sugar is dissolved. I've read that adding a 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, makes the tea super smooth without any bitterness.

Arnold Palmer Recipe

Equal parts iced tea and lemonade. (This is the best lemonade.)

1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (or if using lemonade, eliminate the sugar)
1 cup chilled brewed tea
2/3 cup sugar (can use simple syrup also)
1 1/2 cups Bourbon, Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey or Vodka
Lemon and mint for garnish

Combine chopped mint and sugar in a pitcher. Stir in tea, lemon juice and your alcohol of choice. Refrigerate for 30 minutes up to 2 hours.

Serve in this great mason jar drink dispenser

Gameday Glamour: NFL Nail Polish

Calling all glamorous and stylish NFL Fans! KE Specialties has your team nail polish colors (extra points because they are licensed). What's nice about this product is that it comes with two colors. You could just buy the polishes separately in your team colors, but these are fun and "official".

The trend in nails these days is leaning towards the creative and applying more than one color, other wise known as the "accent" nail, which is perfect for supporting your team. The black and orange Oklahoma State nails above are on point!

BCS Championship 2012

Well, tonight is the night, the Championship game between LSU and Alabama. Everyone has gathered in New Orleans to see these two teams play again. I sincerely hope it's not a repeat of their November match up because that game was a massive snoozefest. LSU won 9-6 in OT with no touchdowns. I think Alabama is out for redemption so my pick to win the game is Alabama.

SECSportsFan – supports my pick with an interesting stat, all bowl rematches of regular-season opponents, the winner of the first game has only won the rematch six of 19 times.

We shall see. All the fun starts tonight at 8:30 pm eastern.
